Blood Pressure I
don’t think that it’s a recommended procedure, but I also check my blood
pressure every day. When you are in hospital they do it throughout the day,
so I figure that it must make sense to keep an eye on it. I use
a Phillips electric blood pressure monitor, which is completely electronic,
so all I have to do is slip the strap on my arm, press a button, and take the
reading. Normal
blood pressure is 120/80 High blood
pressure is 140+/90+ Your
blood pressure reading consists of two measurements: systolic and diastolic. The
systolic measurement is the pressure of blood against your artery walls when
the heart has just finished pumping. The
diastolic measurement is the pressure of blood against your artery walls
between heartbeats. Something interesting The
monitor that I have, also displays your heartbeat, and I discovered recently
that your rate rises just before the onset of infection. My normal resting
rate is 60-70 beats per minute, but a couple of days before I get an
infection, it goes up to 90+. If
you normally get an infection between chemo sessions, it is well worth
keeping an eye on your rate.
