Statutory Sick Pay

Statutory Sick Pay is earnings based pay which is paid by an employer to the employee who is sick. The current weekly rate is £66.15.

You are entitled to statutory sick pay if:

          you are an employee over the age of 16 and under the age of 65;

          you have been continuously sick for 4 or more days in a row;

          have gross weekly earnings of £79.00+.

The employee will need to provide medical evidence in the form of a self-certificate for sick spells of up to 7 days, or a doctors statement for periods after the first 7 days.

If you are self employed, you can pick up a claim pack from your own doctors surgery.
